Deanne Leber has done a fantastic job of hosting Poet's Corner @ Pages Cafe in the Alexander State Library Building, Perth Cultural Centre, for me over the last few months ~ but now she needs to focus completely on her PhD and crafting the 80 poems required.
Thanks Deanne; you did a wonderful job keeping the excitement and interest in poetry high. I also know she's enjoyed the experience because she told me ~ it built her confidence as a reader as well as host.
She's managed to connect with many while sharing their words as either a 'specially invited guest poet (some famous names mixed in with the emerging) or in the Open Mike section.
The atmosphere is always most welcoming and relaxing, thanks to the staff and generous management at the 'in' place ~ Pages Cafe.
So I've got the gig again - I'll be hosting Poet's Corner @ Pages Cafe on the 3rd Saturday of each month from the 19th May 2007 between 2pm and 4.30pm.
We have Alan Hancock as an invited guest for May and usually like three featured poets as well as the Open Mike. So if you're game - contact me before so I can fit you all in.
More information and guest bio's to follow ~ watch this space!
If you're visiting Perth - please drop in! If you're famous, give me some notice so I can publicize the event to the max :-))
